Radius rod modification?

My 4" drop axle came with the axle brackets already welded. The rod ends are about an inch to narrow to clear the frame. would it be ok to cut a saw blade width 3/4 of the way thru the rod, bend it till the cut closes and weld it back. Is this a good idea or bad. Need advice. Only needs to bend 3 to 5 deg.

Could you shoot us a pic of the rod end and axle? What about taking the material off the axle? Is this possible?

I wasn't thinking before, I can just heat the brackets and bend them out with a monkey wrench...

Yep, I've had to heat and bend them in myself to line up, no problem doing that.
