ok Im new, I have a 66 mustang rearend, sup to b a 9" and its 52" wide, but the front end is like 58" wide?(63ford) Im wondering will one or the other give me a better ride less problems? I Have axcess to a 70's ford truck rearend, and use the wider frontend, or I can purchase a front end that matches the 52" mustang rearend. which set up would be better? the wider or narrow...ride, sterring ectectect. thanks! Kurt

From what part of the rear are you taking that measurement? It sounds as if you are measuring the distance between the backing plates. Axle flange to axle flange, which is where the wheels mount and is the actual overall width of the rear, should be about 57" for a 66 Mustang which would be in the range of your front axle.

What he said

Throw some wheels on it and then measure width. You'll be a little happier;)
