Well two weeks ago I did it. I retired from working for someone else. Now I work for myself well for my wife at home for no pay. Been really busy working on tasks I never had time for before. But I love it so far. I might even have time to finish my Studebaker. My wife has a couple more years until she retires and then we can do some serious traveling.

Congrats on getting on with it! I retired 13 years ago yesterday and have never had nothing to do yet...:D

me retired too

I retired 9 yrs ago when my last employer went belly up. I wish I could of retired at 20 yrs. old. Love every minute of it. Although I am slowly getting more and more crippled up thats life, I`ve accepted it.

Oh yes, to me the best thing about retired means I do not have to do ANYTHING unless I want.

Relax and enjoy. You`ve worked most of your life for this time in your life.

Congrats dmw!!!!!!!! as most have stated there is always something to do
best part is you don't always have to......
the hours are GREAT!!!!! the pay.....not so much;) enjoy.....

Congrats!!! I retired 8 years ago but have started selling real estate part time lately... for car parts! Don't miss my old job but I do miss my old pay check!!! [ddd[ddd[ddd

Like some of the other guys said... I seem to have had more to do & less time to do it after I retired... funny how that works!

Congratulations! :) I'm kind of semi-retired. I still farm and ranch about 3,000 acres, so I've got plenty to do, but I'm not on call 24/7 anymore like I was when I was still sheriffing. Still haven't finished my rat rod though. :)

Thanks guys! Yeah, I almost want to go back to work so I can get some rest. But then no.[cl Been working mostly on some perpetual messes so I can get organized and make more room so I can get back working on the Studebaker.

The down side for you is how much your going to miss commuting sideways down Tejeras canyon in the winter. :D

I retired at 55 last year, after 23 years working offshore on 5 week rotations.

I thought I would be busy all day every day, I thought I'd be happy as Larry in my new freedom, two car projects, lots of house stuff, but after three months of doing my thing every day I grew bored with 'doing stuff'. :(

I started to get lazy, started to watch TV, play Xbox games a lot, grew apathetic. Wife and I started getting on each others nerves more and more. It is 10 month now since I last worked, and although I never want to go offshore again, I'm crawling up the walls at home nowadays.

It is both embarrassing and disappointing, because for years I have told people "Only boring people get bored"
