How about a picture thread about seats. I need some ideas. I have thought about a set of the molded type implement seats, maybe just a set of the old stamped tin tractor/dump rake seats just for fun. Anyway, this could be a fun thread.

Bombers

Do they count if they are not installed yet? These are for my COE I'm building. The rivets are copper huckbolts. I am mounting them on swivel bases I got out of the doner van. I am gonna hinge them in the front and use lawn mower seat springs under the back for some bounce. I plan on making cushions using army duffel bag material.

Not hardly there yet......but soon.:D:D

Nice fab work you guys. I would love bomber style but at this point probably won't build them. I also like the idea of the duffle bag material. I have been saving a heavy old green canvass tarp thinking I might use it for seat material. Also have a junked Harley 3 wheel golf cart with some nice little seats that need recovered.
I've also looked at boat seats and actually have just one that I always set in the car when I'mm building pedals ect.
Keep the great ideas coming!!

I Wish...

Thanks for the compliment, Willowbilly, but I can't take credit for fabbin' my bombers. I'm not in the same class as Tripper although I wish I were. The only thing I can take credit for is having the good taste to buy them. LOL

I just tried to make a bomber seat out of a Kirkey racing seat, for my dragster. Wanted to make it look more vintage. The material I cut off is laying beside it.

Seats are a pretty big safety item. What works in a truck cab may not be ideal for a sedan. The seat is our first line of defense in a collision, if the seat gives out then nothing else is going to hold you in position. I had a friend loose his life in a low speed collision because the seat back gave out allowing him to fall back into the rear area of his rod. He sustained a head injury that killed him on the spot. It was an accident that he should have walked away from, but the boat seats he was using weren't designed to hold a 240 lb man up when struck from behind at about 15mph. They were designed to hold you up while fishing on a pontoon boat.
