I'm wanting to have my shifter for the C4 on my project shift from right between the seats, instead of up near the tranny. I don't want to fight the shifter sticking up as far as leg room in the cab. Any photos or ideas?

Depend on what you are looking for. The stock early Mustang, Pinto or Mustang II floor mounted shifters will work. They can be mounted were you want and just made a new shift rod.

Keep in mind if the C4 was a column shift you will need to flip the shifting lever on the side of the trans or make a new lever and weld it to the original lever. If you decide to go with welding the new lever you will need to make the new hold the same length from center as the old one so that the shifter will work property.

A shifter that operates via a cable, like the race versions might work well. You can put the shifter assembly wherever you want and just get a cable long enough to reach.

Good idea Don. I found an older Mustang shifter that came out of a 60's model. Should look pretty sweet in there.

Trust me I hate to spend $ on new parts, but the headache factor can be a real pain in the rear, do yourself a favor, spend the $120 and buy a new b&m unimatic shifter, they have reverse and park lock out's, one switch on the side of the housing so you can have reverse lights or start in park, they use a cable and can be mounted anywhere, they come with a 5 foot cable, and everything you need to hook it up, and it mounts right to the floor, summit or jegs, you will have it in a few days and be done with it.
