I recently sold a truck that went to LA (and on to Lithuania) The guy shows up to get it and he's a local who actually bought a car from me a few years back. I was rather surprised that he only had a pickup and single bumper pull trailer. I asked how he could make any money. Well, anyway, that's how he does it. Basically a buck a mile. And he is open to taking some parts if it's a direction he's going. He has all the proper DOT licensing and insurance. PM me if you need to contact him.

I'm surprised he gets $1 a mile. I start at $.75 and people act like I'm crazy. And if I have multiples going the same way I get down to about $.30 a mile.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. I figure a buck a mile each way and I have an old truck with no full coverage. Probably 75 cents of that is costs and that leaves it like a $12 an hour job.

Yeah, you have to get a back haul on those longer runs. Which this guy does. He has a board where people list hauls and you can negotiate for them. I'm sure he had a back haul lined up when he took the one from here.
