So last night I had went and looked at a Model A Sedan, the askign price I think isnt too far off. But what put me off slightly was I made an offer, he countered and said but "I'm going to wait until tomorrow to get back to you as I have a restorer coming to look at the truck and car and may buy them both, if thats the case I'd prefer to go that route". So now I wait again.

All and all it wasnt in horrble shape, drivetrain is all in tact. Even has electric start I didnt know that was an option at all. The door hinges and latches seem to work fine. Usual rot at the bottom of the doors and the bottom of the cowl. From what I could tell the frame isn't in that bad of shape could not feel or see any major rot at all, seemed to be just surface rust. Drivers fender is in good shape passenger has some rot, but I wouldnt be using them at all anyways. The wood isnt rotted too much at all, its suprisingly solid. Just from looking at it I would gues it was last registered in 1960 as thats the year on the plate. The story I got was both the car and truck were stashed in a barn sometime in the 60's and left there, the owner passed and they had an auction and this guy bought them both. My only somwhat concern is that there is no ownership with it at all, so I need to do some diggin on how hard that would be to get in Ontario... Anywho nuff ramblin on with the pictures

This is the truck he also has for sale. It appears to be an extended wheelbase, as it has a two peice drive shaft, and the Model A box that is on it looks to be about 3 ft short.

I think the truck is way too high, the car is probably a bit more then I would pay,but if its close to you and you dont have to truck halfway across the country and pay several hundret in gas, that has to be considered. How much of it will you use tho, your paying for a complete restorer car,but if you only use the body and not much of the rest then your paying for a lot of stuff you dont need.

I would like to use the frame (box it), and body really thats about it, maybe what I can salvage from the suspension as well... but really that would be it. My thoughts to leaning this way is most bodies in this area are anywhere from $1500 (only seen one at that price) up to $5000 and higher for coupes and roadsters. I figured with the asking price of the car I could sell off what I dont want/need and reduce the cost of the car so to speak. It's about a 2 hour drive each way so not that bad as far as getting it home.

My plan for a build is a "traditionalish" rod. Something that could have been built in the 50's with a few little twists just to ruffle some feathers. Somwhat of a cross of these two, no fenders, little lower then the black one, maybe not quite a 4" chop... probably 2.5-3". Possibly just a 3" Z in the frame and a 4" drop axle on the front to get things somewhat lower. Either a flat 8 or some sort of early Ford V8... or thats the current train of thought.

love the A
I would clean up and knock some off with a wire brush to keep the infection down. Then park it under a carport so I could just look at the car the way it is now. well put some new rubber on the tires maybe

I went through the process of trying to buy a one ton truck donor vehicle with no ownership. Ministery wouldn't even consider it. Said I would have to find the previous registered owner, and they would have to get an ownership, and go through all the owners as it changed hands. The bottom line is they want all the taxes. Didn't buy it. The kicker was when I asked if they could look it up and see who had owned it before, there was a $5.00 fee just to tell me. The computer won't go any farther unless they can say the fee has been paid. Check it out and save yourself some headaches.

I am so glad I live in Alabama , we only have titles for 1975 and newer vehicles . A bill of sale is as good as gold on anything pre-74 . Listening to you guys makes me very thankful

just get a bill of sale form the guy you buy it from for the agreed amount. Dont let the morons at the Ontario license bureau get to you there are proper procedures to go through and most dont know how or care but it can be done.

It's a 31. All model As had electric start, as far as I know. You can count on the frame being rusted out under the motor mount plates. The sub frame is another concern but I think you can get those pieces new. $2500 seems like a lot to just use the body and the frame. The engine is scrap iron unless you can hear it run. The fenders, running boards and splash aprons are worth money if they are usable.
It sounds like you need to research the title thing. Maybe take the plate numbers and have them ran and see what you come up with first.
