I'm wanting to swap out the rear shocks on my 46 ford truck. when i first built it i used a camaro rear and the original 1946 ford lever style shocks with "fabbed" bracketry, but i now want to use a tube-type shock to eleminate some slack and a little bouncey problem...

so what i'm asking is, does anybody have a part number/application for an off the shelf, local parts store available, short tube-type shock ...

i have seen the ones speedway sells and don't nec. have a prob with them, just wanted something "local" if i could...

thanks in advance

I have heard that 1970's Chevy van front shocks are very short. I believe they have 1/2" bushings on both ends. Otherwise if you know a friendly counterman you can go to the back of the shock book and check out sizes and end types.
Good luck getting rid of the bounce. As I get older, ride quality becomes more important.

thanks guys...

low and ratty, that is a valuable link you provided -thanks...i now at least have an idea of a part number, and can call around and see if its something thats easily available
