I'm looking at what I want to do as far as installing my 1992 351W into my 1951 Ford F-1 Pickup truck. I hear that buying the tube-style cross members is kind of a waste because you have to modify it to the point that you could have just started out making your own for the time you have invested. The same is even more true for the transmission cross member (my trans is a C-6).

Also i'm going street/strip with this truck so a deep oil pan will come in to play at some point which wont work with the cross members and i've seen some of them fail before also, so i'm looking for a mount that bolts up to the frame on both sides and leaves the bottom open much like a modern stock pickup.

Anyway, after al that rambling what I really want is to see any pics you have of your homemade engine mounts, thanks for sharing.

Not sure where you got that info about the crossmember versions failing, but it is absolutely wrong. I've used them on two builds so far, both the engine and transmission ones, and they work just as designed. In fact, I will be using another one under the new rpu I'm building.

This setup has been on my Sons T for 4 years now.

And this setup has been on my 27 for over 20 years now.

There is nothing to fail, all the weight and stress is centered right on the crossmembers.

Looking for mount for your 51 ford pickup. What frame are you using. The 51 frame. If so there are so mounts out there that mount on the side of the frame with the cushion mounts. Chassis Engineering make one it is # CP-2250 . There are others out there.

One thing to keep in mind is you will have to modified or move the original trans mount. If you remove it, it will weaken the frame. If you move it back you will need to make spacers because the frame is wider were it needs to go.

As for the trans mount I use one out of a big ford or a ford truck or modify the original mount.
