Spindle nut retainer quetion!

So I'm finishing up & was gonna put the cotter pin in to hold the spindle nut on only to find out it doesn't use that type of retainer. It only has a groove for a retainer & I've tried to find a castle nut retainer like the one pictured but can't find one large enough! Any help would be appreciated!

The spindle isn't drilled for a cotter pin?

That type of retainer is for a regular half nut/hex nut. It still uses a cotter pin.

No Doc... I was surprised when I went to put a cotter in! I'll go take a closer look but am wondering if I should drill one if it doesn't?!?

If it isn't drilled, it probably used a flat tab lock washer like this...

My bad... it was drilled for cotter pins but they were filled with grease & I couldn't see them. Solves that! My eyesight ain't what it used to be!
