I am the happy recipient of this splayed quarter elliptic front suspension. It from an unknown vehicle probably mid 1920's.
 

Got the rear suspension from the same vehicle. Also a splayed quarter elliptic arrangement. As a builder that likes unusual suspension set ups, I'll definitely have to build a ratty using this stuff. It will be a while though...
 
That is a pretty nifty setup, easy to adapt to a dual leaf axle like Chevy, F1, Econoline, etc., a lot of golf carts used the same thing on the front. Looks like some farmer long ago removed the pinion and made a sheetmetal cover on the diff.
 
Must have been a light car. Would be interesting to know what it came from.

very cool.. should make for alot of head scratching when you show up to shows with that configuration
