Any reason why an open wheel sprint car steering box wouldn't work in my truck build. They are set up for cowl steer already. The truck I am building will be approx. 500-800lbs heavier than a sprint car.
The ratios are VERY quick, making the steering effort very high at low speeds.
Sprint Cars are well under 1500 lbs, Midgets are even less, your truck will weigh more than 2300 for sure.
Have you looked at the '70s Mopar steering box for cowl steer ?
Just a fun fact; Schroeder makes a ratio reducer for their units that circumvents the hard steering issue. Interesting but expensive. Take a look at the below link.
