STREET PREACHIN FROM THE RAT ROD TOUR! STREET PREACHIN FROM THE RAT ROD TOUR!
not sure where to place this!OK , Heres the plan!
I am working on building a durable dependable Ratrod , to drive to the Bonneville saltFlats races in august!
On the way there, I am going to stop in towns between here and there doing street ministry , just pull up get out of the rat with my guitar and start preachin in the streets! i plan to leave by the end of maY, go thru August! ,
i dont have much money but i am depending on the Lord Jesus !
I believe its time that we take the gifts god has gave us and start doing something with them! America needs some people willing to do what ever it take to help the people out! Pointing to Jesus helps them out!
so i dont know how this will go but i am willing to try!
i want to set up meetings during the races, it is very dangerous what the folks do, and maybe in those moments before they get in that car and take off, they need to talk to someone about Jesus!! ( referring to the Bonneville Flats racers)
You know nomatter where you are at, it is always a good time to talk to Jesus!!!
Please pray for me on this journey, that Gods will will be done!!!
thanks ! and God bless Tex

That sounds like an adventure! I will pray for ya, just remind us before you start. I hope you could take lots of pics and post them up. I would like that and would feel like part of the trip. It would also remind me to keep you in my prayers. Good luck and God speed.

Rev,
Too bad I don't live anywhere near your route. Be neat to me up with you. What date do you expect to leave? Be looking forward to progress reports if you are abel to make them. My prayers will be with you.

That sounds like what we call a vacation! (exceptin' the preachin' and a playin' part;)) Around 10 states, 5,000 miles and about 2,000 dollars in two weeks - that's what it takes us. If you haven't ever been out that way, get yourself a National Parks Pass too - well worth it - there is a lot of 'Gods handiwork you won't want to miss.

One other thing - if your planning on camping the whole time, do your research on campgrounds with showers - they can get hard to find out west.

Hey Tex, I live just 25 miles East of ABQ you'd better be stopping by to say hello!!!
Don

yeah will do! so if nothing else i can fuss at for getting rid of the punkin!:D

i been thinkin bout this for along time, and , if the trucks not built in time , i my just drive the 66! either way, i am goin!

well bad news ! the trip has to be postponed! i went out last night to drive my truck with the donor motor! , and i have a rod knocking! i think it must have happening when i came hopme from pikeville TN . last week oil pump failure! got to find a donor motor now! oh well!!!!:(

Bummer on the motor. Thought I ought to post this before I get sidetracked. Here are some random thoughts on camping and such. Take a deep cast iron skillet - clean it by fire. Those All-In-One box meals work real well for camping too. When you first get to a campground, go around to the empty sites and snag the leftover firewood. Some places won't allow you to harvest wood. Take a compact camping propane stove (the fuel oil ones can be a mess) or at least take a propane tank and plumbers torch head for lighting fires. Pay attention to the trash bins - if they are bear proof, be wise - no food, trash, water left out - a tent or cooler is NOT safe. In your case, use campground food lockers if available. Don't wipe your hands on your pants and go to bed! Don't drink camp water. Buy blocks of ice instead of cubes if possible. It's still snowing in the mountains right now - think about night time temps. Higher altitudes = lower temps. Lay down a tarp under your tent - keeps your tent cleaner. Keep the plastic bags the tarps come in. Bungee cords and small rope come in handy. If you have a laptop, look for signals you can hop on around hotels and motels. Take extra tent stakes - you'll be pounding into rock a lot. A lot of tent pads are only 9x9. Small 3 pole tents good. Fill a aluminum can 3/4 with water, set it right in the middle of the fire, and it will boil in a couple minutes. You can put coffee right in it and strain it out when you pour into a cup, or you can get coffee pouches (like tea bags) that work well too. Hit the state visitors centers when you can - also city chamber's of commerce - lots of free info - state maps and campground info.
Save a lot of extra time for Utah - there are several amazing parks there. Save a bunch for Colorado too. I did not think along Rt 66 was all that neat of country - some really cool places, but not packed full like Ut, Co, or Wy. Visit RoadsideAmerica.com for some oddball sights to see.

If I think of more later I'll post.

Best to you on your adventure preacher.
I've done a fair amount of ministry myself, not preaching though. I spent several months in the Gulfport area after Katrina, did some volunteer work for Mercy Ships. Also did a year and a half as transportation director for Teen Mania. I was at the backstage partys with Skillet, Jeremy Camp, L.A. Symphony and some others I don't remember. I can't remember how many times I was on the phone all night dealing a broke down bus full of kids halfway across the country.

Hang in there Rev, I'm sure things will work out for you. Maybe there's another plan in store for you!!!..:D. Some great camping tips Samfear!...CR

remember nothing in God's plan is "accidental" - maybe God wanted you to get that motor fixed before you left out, so you wouldn't be broke down smack-dab-in-the-middle-of-nowhere.......:D

hang in there, the bottom line is if you've been led to do this--then it WILL happen--it's just according to His schedule;)

hope to get an update soon....

well the time schedule changed but back on track, not going to make utah but goin to do the street ministry anyway! hop to be leavein within 2 weeks!

Praying for a rewarding trip for you. When you going to be in Denver, May try to see you and buy you some Dinner.

that be great if possible , i never know when i leave, where ill be! alot depends on the spirit and the weather!:D i hope to be in some places to meet some folks from RRR! its always nice to meet folks who are interested in the same stuff!
