Just closing the night to see some of the creations on eBay.
Came across this truck. Seems tastefully done. Not bad lookin. Then I got to the photos from under the rear of the truck [S
"Modernized" isn't the proper term for those coil mounts, or the hardware store uni strut holding the bed on...... Or the OSB bed floor either
I'll tell ya what.......

I'm gonna watch this one to see what it goes for.

I like the notched frame, well done

See, I knew someone would notice more on this thing!
I didn't even see that. I was rob use with the other crap.
It's stuff like this that puts a bad name on Rat Rodders. People think if they have a buddy with a plasma torch and a welder, they can do whatever they want.
These things need to have higher build quality under the rusty skin. We're all gonna loose the privilege one of these days when a builders frame splits in two in the highway and kills him, his family, and the family the back half rolled into on the highway.
I just don't get it. How can people sleep at night letting something like this drive the streets?

Before rat rods, there were already a lot of shiny builds that if you looked underneath looked like a methhead did the work. Plenty of those Easter egg cars have the same thing. It's been like that forever. Make a buck builders slapping stuff together and covering it up with a quick bondo paint job and selling it to a sucker. Now they do it with the next big thing everyone wants - rat rods, and they don't even have to spend the time covering up the body flaws.

It's nothing new. I've seen 30s-40s period "hotrods" that had horrid crap that was just scarey. Fast forward to the 60s when I grew up and there was a lot of dangerous crap around then too. Who remembers the foot long shackles folded over? Or the horse shoe spacers on the ball joints of a 60s chevy that was already a wallowing pig in the corners. I've even seen pictures of welding on this site that wouldn't hold 2 pieces of iron together in the scrap pile, let along in an area where structural integrity is important. All any one of us can do is take care of our own ride and maybe help a kid down the right path. There will always be hacks.

Touché. I guess I was just looking at it from a beginners perspective. I guess there is always a bad seed (or many) in a bunch. Still surprises me that a dealer is willing to sell it with their name on it last.

Here are the pics so when the link dies. They spared no expense.LOL I think I can see daylight through the passenger floor.

I tried to put a bid in of $12 but it wouldn't let me........ That's about all it is worth to me. Nice to know there are safety hazards like that driving around....

up to 5k now, and this truck is more solid than the one at 8k, and half the interior from the chop is not welded back together on it:eek: I have a real straight and mostly rust free 50 GMC 5 window that is titled ready to go back together, and no one seems to think it is worth more than $500.00. Thats it, I'm just going to do hack jobs and sell them on D-Bay.
