Had to do a little reptile relocating this morning. Crawled under my house to start running a new gas line and found a 20 inch black snake coiled up on top of some duct work. I couldn't actually reach him without a stick or something so after sizing him up I decided a shop vac would be the tool of choice for getting him out..............

......[S a little disoriented I'm sure but none worse for the wear :D
Turned him loose next to a nice rock wall full of cracks and crevasses.

any idea what it is -- hard to tell
from the photo but
looks like maybe a small indigo or racer --
good to have around either way --
glad you didnt kill it

Even looking at that picture gives me the willies. I HATE snakes! :eek:Don

Here at the 'Snake Farm' we love Willys (especially chopped '53s) and snakes :D Although I have no qualms about killing a poisonous one around the house :)

Yeah, a Racer.......good to have around for mice and moles, and Lord knows we got plenty of moles in the yard this year
Had he been a Copperhead or Rattler (we have both in these parts) he would have been removed in pieces [ddd

You did the right thing. A venemous creature near you is one thing, but that guy is helping you out.

Funny how some people would rather have a house full of rodents than a harmless snake or two that is rarely seen roaming in their yard...

It's a phobia. It's the same with bats and spiders.
