i'm in a position right now where i am trying to gather some funds up before i do anymore to my truck. to be more exact, i am eventually going to Z the front part of the frame (or swap it out) and step up the rear frame or do a major C notch. either way, its going to require some major cutting and welding. i already have a plan in the works to obtain a welder but it may be a while before i get it. my question to you guys is... should i start tearing it down now or wait till i have my welder?

Pro's...
1. have it ready for the time when i do get the welder
2. nothing else to do to it during the winter while its in the garage
3. it will set out my goal for me to obtain

Con's...
1. may loose interest in it or get discouraged
2. means i am stuck at that point until the welder is obtained
3. and... may loose interest or get discouraged!!! ARG!!!!!

opinions please?

Well I would strip it down.Get the frame down to what you want. Then cut it up and do all your frame mods and I bet that frame has quite a bit of stuff that has to be cut off and the rest of it cleaned and paint.Just clamp everything up good and square till you get your welder.

Same with the cab.If you are going to chop it.You might be able to bolt in supports to start.

Just use the panel clamps from HF to clamp it all together.

There is always plenty to do when building this stuff.Plus it will keep you focused and will be fun at the same time.

Just pic a section of it and dive into it.

Dont tear it down unless you have what you need to get it back together. Some other things may come up while youre collecting the funds and youll lose interest. Or worse yet, but hopefully not, something major comes up and you have to sell it. Will someone buy a torn down project over a more complete one? Doubt it. Ive been down both roads thats why Im looking for a drivable car right now.
