testing a window motor

is there an easy way to see if this thing works with it off the car?

or would an autoparts place be able to test it for me?
help me out guys lol

Window motors run in both directions up and down, connect one wire to ground and one to power, it should spin one way, reverse the wires and it should run the other way, when it is running take a piece of wood and apply pressue to the gear to see if it will work under a load, sometimes they will work with no load but can be bad and not work under pressure.

Under the plate where the gear comes out, there is a 2 piece gear. They are connected with 3 rubber buttons. The buttons dry rot and lets the drive gear move with the driven gear disengaged. If the gear does not turn under load, you can buy the parts kit at NAPA, a lot cheaper than the whole motor.

the windows all work now .. on that car.
unfortunately when i was rolling up the window on my plymouth it came off the track or something ... have to fix that tomorrow i guess.
