Thunder Road... kool!!!

It's been a *long* time since I've seen Thunder Road on the tube so I thought I'd sit a spell & watch it again! Robert Mitchum lifted the hood of his Shoebox Ford & there sat a Ford OHV V8 with 3 deuces... love it!!! Love the old cars & the B&W film!

I got to thinking, in the movie didn't he crash in a 57? On the radio version of the song I think it says they got him in 53. Just thinkin'

Loved that movie....gave me an appreciation and love for 57 Fords...my pop had one then, but it didn't do the things that the movie car did, maybe it was his driving!...cr

Several years ago in Knoxville, TN they had a show of the Thunder Road at the old Tennessee Theater. They closed the main drag through down town and had a lot of those old cars on display that could have been in the movie. The story of Thunder Road was about this area of Knoxville.

Shot the gap at Cumberland, screamed by Maynardville, blazed through Knoxville, Then right outside of Bearden, they made the fatal strike.

Bearden is now part of Knoxville.

Yeah, his Shoebox got too hot so he scored a '57 & sold the Shoebox to his cousin.
