Hello.
I live in Ohio, but I find deals on rat rods thats pretty good, but they only offer a bill of sale.
Is it hard to get a title and run these past the bmv or should I pass? Tnx, RR

I'm lucky...my car has big headlights!

You MAY NOT need a title.....Check with your state DMV....

Over here in CT no title is needed...just a BILL OF SALE with matching VIN numbers.

Many states stopped titleing cars that are more than 30 years old.

Ohio is one of the States that didn't issue titles until something like 1975 I think. So if you can buy a registration for a similar car, preferably an Ohio registration card, you should be able to use that and turn your project into that car. What helps too is that most old cars either had no vin # stamped on the car or some were on the frame, so there would be no conflicting numbers.

Most states have a process for doing it without doing anything illegal. Look up the OHIO DMV website and look around.

Ohio has always issued titles for it's vehicles. Either buy a vehicle with a proper title or go through the BMV inspection procedure and obtain one that way. DO NOT buy a title for another vehicle and try to pass it off that way. It is illegal and a good way to lose your car. Things like that are making it harder and harder to register older vehicles. Don't be a part of the problem!

Have you been to see the state people in charge of titleing one of these vehicles ? Don't matter what we say , they hold the rule book .
