titling question

i want to use a 46 pickup cab
on a newer truck frame.
what do i need the title (s) to?
does it matter?
is there a way around it etc?
the truck i want to use has been a
farm/ranch truck for years-- the current owners
trying to get ahold of the old old owner to see
if he still has the title by chance etc
...
what do i need etc?

When I did mine,I went and talked to the head man at the MV inspection lane . I had him tell me what I needed to pass inspection . He told me and said " when you are ready for inspection come inside and get me and I will walk through the lane with you ". He did and none of the inspectors said a word as they had no idea who I was . Needless to say I passed . Ps he figuered out the best way to title my truck and wrote the paper work for me .

if they bought the land with the truck on it they own it and can get a title for it as such. That works here in washington or did at one time

best bet would be to go to your local tag and title agency and ask them what you are going to need. i have found that it is different for each state. hell, there are some places where it is different depending on what county you are in.
