took some leaves away

ok guys got a dumb question. I had the bed off my 63 gmc to do some work and relized the U bolts were rusted through so before i put the new ones on i took about 4 leaves out of this very stout leave pack. it leveled the truck out and still feels like it can take a load. so my question is. will this affect the ride? it still feels stiff but will it bounce or throw somthing off? I dont think it would but id like to check cuase i want this to be a nice driver thanks!

Make sure you take out every other leaf, or you will put too much stress on the longer leaves. You will be suprised by just how much the suspension travels going down the road. If it bottoms out too much you may wind up putting a couple back in...

What you have done will affect the ride 2 ways . It will ride better and as those "extra" leaves were there so you could haul a load -you wont be able to haul the same weight load as before . You could add air shocks and pump them up with a compressor when you were hauling a load . Have your cake and eat it too

Or, you could put a thin sheet of Teflon between each leaf and make some cheap Posie ride springs.

Also make sure you're shackles still have some travel, (no binding).
