Got it home today. Hopefully I can get the freeze plug in it and get it popped off later this week. Plan is to try and flip it for profit and if it don't go maybe a flat black paint job, some dark window tint, lower it a little and drive the snot out of it. I've always had a soft spot for short stroke Old's. It's not my old 66 442 but it is a 66 with a (short stroke) 425.

Here's the only rust spot on it, rather odd.

They aren't near the classic they really should be. This was design cues that the rest of GM didn't adapt until 2 years later. Like the flat sail panels, lack of vent windows and stub frame unibody construction. Pretty cutting edge stuff at the time. Also the 425 had it's highest power rating in the Toronado at 385 HP and 475 Ft/lbs of torque.

It's a common issue with these cars. I believe it's the result of a leaking windshield.

WB3 did you find the offending plug? Easy fix or ugly?

Not yet, it was windy as heck when I got it home. We made a weak attempt to fire it up but never got it running. I had to work today and tomorrow, thur is an auction so Friday will be the first chance I get to get a good look. I'll keep every one posted.

I got it jacked up enough to have a look and I think I can get at the offending plug by removing the starter. I may have to pull the half shaft, not sure yet. I think I might just change them all, it looks like some seepage and for sure if one rusted through the others are thin too.

There is a Stephen King book made into a movie that has a mean black Toro in it. I think it is "The Dark Half". I like Stephen King anyway but the car in that one is awesome, like yours.
