I've seen a bunch of talk on other boards with folks being really upset about the opperations of the Tri-State swap meet. Apparantly they are getting very aggressive about collecting taxes at the meet - to the point that many regulars will no longer consider attending / selling. I'm getting this info second hand and have not been a vendor in the past. If what I'm hearing is true, it may have some impact on attendance and participation of vendors.

this crap is happening everywhere and is a pain, but no issues in the great state of New Hampshire (NO SALES TAX) just property tax that kills us.

I do know that larger cities definitely have been pushing this....I have to buy a sales tax license just to sell a few books at bike rallies, car shows, and the like. I've got some bro's up there.....I'll see what they have to say. I'll probably still go, because there will definitely be more stuff for sale there than in the San Luis Valley! ;)

Totally off topic:
I just looked at your location - I did some school electrical designs down your way for the new Sangre de Cristo and Center schools. We're also designing the new school for Moffat. I need to get back down that way with my camera and find some folks to do photo shoots at the dunes before the mountain snow melts and at the old drive in near Monte Vista.

Let me know when you're coming, or if you need any help contacting folks. :)

I'll keep an eye on the weather. I'm thinking about mid to late March, when the days get a bit longer and the sub zero temps in the valley are hopefully gone. I don't mind the cold too much, but it saps camera battery power awfully fast. Let me know if there are any local spring events in the valley that may be worth tagging onto a trip.
