I've been really doin' some real Spring cleanin' lately. Well... today I broke into some old boxes of vinyl records from my youth & spend this afternoon playing them on a cheap turntable I bought from some friends. Old CSN&Y, John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers, The James Gang, ZZ, Stones, The Wicket Picket & so on. Man... it was like bein' back in the 60's & 70's again! Those *definitely* were the daze! Holy cow Batman!!!:eek::eek:

I just was told to get rid of a few leftover ones, had some AC/DC , Zepplin ,etc. I thought of putting them on ebay, but after I checked not really worth much to bother.

I converted all my old LPs to MP3 years ago. Do you have the means to do that to yours...I would love to get copies of them, I have a little over 200 gigs of music.

My brother and our friends used to go back into Topanga canyon and listen to John Mayall,Canned Heat,Black Oak Arkansas and a lot of different people when they woud have a get together to do some jamming - my brother had a in with Black Oak. Had some very good times back then.

I still like to go through my hand me down LP's. We have a pretty old tube and knob Emerson player that takes a minute to warm up, but there's just something about the crackly sound that takes you back.

My collection includes Zep4, Doors, Kiss, Stones, Boston, Rare Earth, JoJoGunne, Ted Nugent, Don McLean, Cheap Trick, Elvis, etc. I'll never get rid of my vinyl, in fact I'm always looking to expand!

Have not listened to the Bluesbreakers in years! Thanks for bringing this back

I had nearly every Mayall album! The list of awesome guitar players that played for his is enough to make nearly anyone a fan!!!

There was one song I really loved (can't remember it now) but it got so scratched up from my constant playing... my old girlfriend called it the "bacon song"! ; - >

It was a kick listening & I still have a stack I'm gonna go through this morning. Lightnin' Hopkins, Lee Michaels, Santana, 13th Floor Elevators, Trapeze, Iron Butterfly, Shiva's Headband, The Mothers of Invention, Dave Mason & I found a nearly virgin copy of Exile on Main St. I also have quite a few of my all time fav's that have never been opened and of course never been played!

My Son Don and I were just talking about this stuff the other night. The good rock and roll we all knew and loved will probably die out with this generation and that is sad. I know they say rock and roll will never die, but I'm sure our Parents said the same thing about Rudy Valee and the other guys from their era.

Like most of you, I really have some great memories of the late 50's and 60's. Driving a zillion miles an hour in a GTO convertible with some great looking chick sitting on the back of the seat tossing beer bottles at road signs, seeing groups like Sly and the Family Stone, Blood Sweat and Tears, and others playing at some local club, and just generally not having a care in the world except how we were going to spend next weeks paycheck.:D

Wish I would have known how much fun I was really having because I would have been going out 6 nights a week...................oh wait, I DID go out 6 nights a week! :D[cl: Most nights I would get in at 5 AM, take a shower and go to work. Wanted to die that day from lack of sleep, but did the same thing the next night and the next night.........cool:

Sadly I got rid of my collection a few years back. I had around 3500 albums and a few 45s. Alot or picture discs and colored vinyl, mostly stuff I got during my radio years most of the stuff was promo and radio station only copies.

One of the ones I wish I still had was a radio station only 45 of Bruce Springsteen. Santa Clause is coming to town. And some other rare stuff like the Lynyrd Skynyrd fire cover which was pulled for a different cover after the plane crash.

While cleaning out my mil house I found a ton of 78s from the late 40s and early 50s, I have a turn table that records directly to CD so I will put some of the more interesting stuff on CD. Among the collection is the first version recorded of "Open The Door Richard" on the Black and White label.

I bet Don remembers that one.

Like Ian Anderson (Jethro Tull) said.....There is no more rock and roll...just the sickly sound of greed.

I've got a few thousand LP's, mostly 60's-70's rock. Rock sure fell apart in the 80's!

Now, I find that it's easier to slip on the headphones late at night and cruise through Youtube. There must be millions of songs there. So much music, so little time.

Go, Jim Dandy!

Say it ain't so Eman !!! I can't listen to much on the radio today, so I use an iPod just about everywhere I go. Too many angry young musicians! Reading these posts brings back a lot of good memories like Dave Mason, my 1st concert and Iron Butterfly.... Wow I think I'm having flashbacks! :D. CR

Shake, Rattle and Roll

Todays music is terrible! Even if you TRY to listen to it, it's awful. We've got a good oldies station so thats what I listen to. I've got a bunch of vinyl I wouldn't take any amount for.

Shakey

ps Brian Setzer (32 duece) is cool!
