I've been thinking of going back to work since I took early retirement last July. I hate not working, plus I haven't lived on a budget for quite a while and that is bugging me.

Got a call last night from a friend who I worked with at the marina (my last job). He might have an opening for someone to work in the front end of the service dept.............that was what I did in the last situation. He has been promising me a spot ever since we both got the boot at our last jobs, but the economy has made things slow at this new place he went to. Looks like now things might be picking up.

As soon as I go get a haircut I am going to go over to see him and find out what he has to offer. I hope it is just part time, maybe 30 hours a week, because I can't make too much or I forfeit some of my SS money, but we'll see what he needs.

I'm pretty excited.

A Working Man

GET A HAIRCUT for me that would be (one) hair cut. Not much left on top to cut. Ask for your senior discount at the barber shop. Good luck at your job interview.

Good luck with the interview. Are you gonna drive your rod there? I find it's a real ice breaker when people see it. Either that, or they feel sorry for me, rust and all........:D

Thanks everybody for the good wishes. I just got back, and I think it will work out.....he only has to get approval from his boss then it's a deal. Turned out to be a few more hours than I hoped (full time five days a week) but I'll deal with going over in what SS allows you to make at the end of next year.

I worked with Craig at the last marina, he and I co-managed the service dept. I was out front and he did the back end, so we know each other well and work great together. That was one thing that I liked about this situation, he and I think alike and never have a problem with one another. In todays lousy job market I'm pretty happy this came up.

Good news is I will have a few extra bucks every month, bad news is, I won't have much time to spend working on fun stuff. :D Maybe I'll hit the lottery and not have to worry about that.:rolleyes:

Thanks again all.

Good Luck Don. I also took an early retirement about a year ago. I know what you mean part time would be better. I just can't see getting a job at this point. Maybe latter. I wish you well.

Sounds like a good deal Don. I hope everything works out for you on this.

It reminds me of my car building span:

First I had the time but not the money....

Then I had the money but not the time....

Now I have neither but I get by.

I am glad for you Don,If it runs into your Social Security.Maybe he can cut you some type of a deal.30 hours on the Books and the rest in good ol USA dollars.

I am sure you will be ok either way.

Glad to see that you are movin on.

Its still the craps around here.I hope things start to change real soon.

Good for you. Its always nice to have bucks in your pocket. Overtime has dried up for me so there's no extra cash. Slowly using up my car fund, but hopefully, O.T. will come back.

I was thinking about retiring in a year, but my wifes job is shakey, so I may have to keep working.
