I want to start by saying that I mean no offence but that scares me.
By raising the spring mount up that high at the very end of the frame like that, you are giving all of the stress that the front end takes a cheater bar to wreck havoc with.
My other primary concern is that I don’t see how you can have a scrub line. No part of the frame or suspension should be touching the ground when you have a flat tire.
I think that z-ing the frame in front of the firewall might give the results you are looking for.

im not intending this thread to turn into suspension Q&A i just need ideas and thought more people could benefit from some of the unique ideas hatched by people building with what they have laying around on the cheap..... the pics i put up of mine were early pics and dont include all the bracing that was going with it...... and i will be running 19.5" rims... i dont think i would lay frame if i got a flat out front.... regardless like i said, i think i may scrap V1.0 of my front end.... but you guys gotta give me some inspiration!!:D:D

you can check the rest of my build here: http://ratrodsrule.com/forum/showthread.php?t=18157

here is another pic of my roller, i think my scrub line is OK...

Hey Burnin,

I would work on getting your engine and transmission mocked up, then see where your front end needs to go. Your wheel base is understandably long because of the engine I know you plan to use, but, it might be able to be a little shorter. You have a roller and it will be easier to do now anyway.

I like the idea of the suicide front end, but that motor is about 1200 lbs. Its going to take a lot of frame and suspension to make it work safely. I think you should be looking at the double 1/4 elliptical spring set up. It is much easier to add leaves to gain the needed suspension heft you are going to need.

Besides, no one in oil town is likely to have one set up like that. Till I build one...:D

Phillip-r-s made this comment...

"honestly you might try flipping that frame over"

From the fire wall forward it could really be a possible option and easily executed.

ok thanks devil.....i was crabby lastnight...:(

i dont really wanna flip my frame over, i have what i think is a nicely set up four link with airbags in the rear all tacked together.... and if i flip it over it will make the rear of my frame very very very low.......

i stared at my front end lastnight again for a long while...... i think im gonna go the same kinda route Corpo went with a true four link and airbags. since my ride is gonna end up at like 150" wheelbase... ill need all the lift i can get to get over some of the speed bumps i see around the city.... jesus they make some of them like gall darned mountians!!:eek:

lets see your airbag suspension!!

oh and the first pics of my front end are pics of work in progress, the front part of the frame where the spring mount is not final, i ended cutting it down a lot, it now has a rise of only about 10" total... but likie i said i think it goin out the window.....
