what rear and what front

picked up straight axle with parell springs on it 5 bolt 4 1/2 on spacing of bolts front end same on rear end want to use front axle sure it is chev got a spring around outside of drum i would like to know what it could 49 54 chev pik up? have not learned how to put pictures on here yet but i will. my learning curve is slow and not as quik, is there a book you can get about the pictures? front axlke is 53 1/2 wide backing plate to backing plate fron spring is 35 " eye to eye 5 leafs 1 3/4 "wide i think early chev pik up any ideas let me know think you robertbandit'

Sounds like you have a Ford Econoline front axle with 5 on 4 1/2 bolt pattern. Chevy would probably be 6 lug.

what do ireally have

bought wheel indicator yesterday , maybe it will tell me what i really have, it is hard when you don"t know what it come off of to figure ou what it really is they say there are people that can look at a lot of parts and tell you that is such and such and that fits that year model. where are they olde time salvage people i guess . the saga goes on. thanks robertbandit

Like Fuzz said it's more than likely ford. Most of your chev stuff (car or 1/2 ton truck was 6 lug) but I could be wrong.

well found out that the front and rear axles aresmall chev pickup wheel will not fit smallchev car will, now i am trying to figure out what they came off of what year what truck. cars did not have straight front axlesi guess the rear came ou of sme truk 4 1/2 0r 4 3/4bolt pattern rear axle 10 bolt chev can i put disc on each axle? salvage yard? what years do need to look for for early chev .Help thanks robertbandit[cl

its been a little while since i measured what i have, but i believe my 47 dodge 1/2 ton has 5 on 4 1/2 bolt pattern as well.
