So I picked up this cab from a fellow member last Sunday and now what I have a pile of parts. I also have some doors I believe I could weld in there. I say weld because I was think of making this into a modified roadster. Thoughts? Pictures of ideas?

The frame is a 29 Model A frame that is boxed and I would like to kick it up in the front and rear. I was thinking cutting the roof off completely then narrowing the cab and channeling the cab as well. Probably section too that would make it shorter as there would be no doors that are functional, I would step over.

Thoughts? Thanks:)

Somebody stuck a forklift through the cab...

I am thinking of cutting 4 inches off the bottom all the way around and only using the cab corners too...

One of the new hot rod magazines has an article on cutting up later model cabs, like this, and making cool little modified roadsters out of them. I didn't get to read the entire article, as my Kid just showed it to me on the way to his room one night, but there were artists renderings of how these would come out........and they were really cool.

I think your idea is great. You would lose that forklift damaged top, and also gain a roadster. Model A frame is a good idea too.

You gotta promise to post lots of pictures of the entire process though. :D:D

Yeah it was Rod and Custom I have a subscription... I think I have read that article 10 times since Sunday when I broght the thing home... What ever I decide and it will be a roadster of some sort, I will definately take a lot of pictures. I just wish I could find a pic or two of some that others have done. Ive been trying for 2 hours... I can find 31-34 fords but that's about it... I want to see stuff peopl have "built".

Looks good!

Rab,
Looks really good, frame looks good but I wouldn't count on the gas tank being good enough to use although maybe it is! Just remember... once u make it a roadster... u have to live with a roadster. Sometimes roadsters r awesome but sometimes... Plus I personally think they can b harder to sell. Don't get me wrong though... I love roadsters!

I think the roadster deal could be a pretty cool thing Rab if the proportions were good, especially on the model A frame. I'm thinking that you would have to really rework that cowl and windshield area to make it look just right. I personally have a fetish for chopped pick-ups so if it were mine, I'd try my best to keep the lid on it, but that's just me. Either way it should be cool.

Here's an idea for you...
You've got a cab and a frame, go from there.
