Ever since I saw this 54 I've been thinking about it. I have an extra body to my 52 chevy and I'm thinking about doing something crazy with it. Besides the chop what else does it look like they did to this truck? Section?

You can see the section line, but how much do you think they took out? And it looks like the fenders are still the factory size. So when you section you just move the bottom of the cab and floor up?

I just know it looks cool!

Looks like a 5"-6" section from the body and a like amount from the top. They also pancaked the hood. Front half looks good. Don't care for the back half though. Doesn't look like they're gonna put a bed on it.

I figured that since I have any extra body that I'd give it a shot.

To section, you just mark off the amount you want to use and cut it out right?
I know that I'll need to reinforce the hell out of top and bottom sections that they won't collapse, but all in all it seems pretty straight forward. Would you all recommend doing the chop or the section first?

I definitely think the hood is pancaked by looking at the line down the center of the hood and the Sharpie lines down the side. A buddy of mine did this on his '53 BelAire. Once the body work was all done, you could hardly recognize the car. It changes the whole appearance.

I like the looks of the truck in your pic. Hope you have lots of bodywork skills.

If it was mine, I'd build a bed for it.

Yup, it's getting there. Looks like a 3"-4" chop, a 2"-3" section, a 2" channel. It looks like a good 4" was taken out of the hood, (pancake). You'd be surprised at what you can do by just channeling. I'll show you in the next post. I'll use another members truck.

I can't remember who's truck this is, but it's a good example of what you can do with a simple body channel. The first photo is the stock height 52 Ford F1. The second is with the cab body channeled 8". The front fenders remain in the stock position, and the hood was sectioned 8". The bed was channeled 6", and the rear fenders were raised 6". Yes, it's a photochop

Looks great.......a friend of mine did something similar to his 72 Chevy truck when I was back in school around 1974. Everyone thought he was out of his mind doing this to a new truck. It was six months in the shop before the sun rose across the hood. Great looking ride and one of a kind for the period.

Question on the IRS, what year is the axle used and what was the cost in building set up?
Only problem with that torpedo frame work, is that there is not much support to even set a small box platform out back. I do like the IRS build, nothing beats 4 wheel I.S.
