I haven't seen anyone do a "What's It Worth" thread, so if it is something the RRR Mod would prefer not happen, please feel free to vaporize.
I haven't sold a hot rod for 30 years. Now, I have an acquaintance that wants to buy my International. It has a 250 Chev 6 and Saginaw 4 speed. It is reasonably rough but runs and drives well. It gets lots of attention at shows.
Don't worry about what I might think about your suggestions of value. Be honest, what would you sell it for if it was yours? I want to give the man a good deal but I would like to not be stupid, cheap, which is my normal way of doing transactions. You know, buy high and sell low.

Watch E-bay for a while. It seems to be a pretty good way to see what is going on in the market. Different areas of the country have different values on Rats too. And this economy has changed things too.

I agree but u also have to consider how much u have in it & could u stand to see u're pal drivin' it around!:eek::eek:

It's a nice looking truck with good proportions, I'd guess it to be priced in the 8 to 10 grand range, maybe a little more, depending on location, as long as it runs, drives and stops well, and is safe.

I agree. In my area it would easily bring 8 to 10 thousand.

Being it the business of building special interest vehicles I tend to take a harder look at value. This particular truck is very well proportioned and appears to be well built. Quality of build in my mind is much more than sheet metal deep and needs to be well investigated when concidering a purchase from the buyes perspective. From the sellers perspective, you have to ask yourself what you have in it and what will it take to replace it. If I had built this truck for a customer I could easily see the bill being $25000 or more, so selling it for $10000 is an extremely good deal for your buddy from that point of view. I suppose in the end you need to consider a number of issues. Do you want to sell it and do it all over again? For some the build is the thing. What's your time worth? Do you need to sell it? Will you be happy with the price paid or will you have regrets later? Just some things that I've personally learned to concider very carefully.

I can't comment as to value but just looking at the picture has increased my pulse rate. Beautiful Bob. I hope someday I can build something similar.

Bob,From what I have seen you build. I beleive that the truck is well built. It is worth what you have into it and you also need to make a few dollars also.

Remember "Time is money"

I am sure that you are a reasonable builder,But by all means dont give it away.

That is a very nice truck bobw it has given me a lot of insight and I hope mine turns out half that good I have already been offered 14000 for mine and I told the guy I want to enjoy it for awhile first, so no I would say more than 10,000 ( just my 2cents)

Thanks to everyone that contributed information and advice. It appears that some rat rods are selling for a good price on eBay. That is encouraging. I had a price in mind that was way lower than anything mentioned here and lower than what decent rats are going for on the 'Bay. Just hard for me to pull the trigger and let one go even though I need $$$ for other projects.
Also, I have these worries; What if the guy doesn't like it? What if he badmouths the car/builder? What if it breaks? What if he comes back for "warranty work"? If I sell it, or one of the others, I would prefer that it went far away.

As a mechanic I find it best to let someone else sell my cars locally. For some reason, no matter how much you stress the "as-is" part, they will still roll up and waste your time every time it makes a tick.
