Wishbones - extending them

I am extending '37-'40 wishbones (split) and here is a pic of what I am up to.
My concern - the wall thickness of the 1" OD swedged extensions are .095" (got 'em from Speedway). The wishbone's wall thickness are around .175".
As you can see, I have predrilled holes and will weld the 18" extensions to the wishbones and then fill in the holes. About 6-1/2" hangs out the end and the majority of the 3/4" rod end should support the last 1-1/2".....but the 5" in between the rod end and wishbone, I am concerned and am thinking of welding a 1" ID steel tube over the extension to give the .095 thick swedge so more 'meat'. My son thinks this is overkill and it isn't needed.

Looking for other thoughts/suggestions on this entire idea....thx!

I think .120 wall is the minimum for suspension parts that will get a lot of street use (pot holes, etc). I would do as you are thinking. It will look better too.
