I spotted a Lincoln the same model as mine the other day when I had to take a detour around a wreck on the interstate. I was back in the area today in my Expedition, so I stopped to have a look. Turned out nobody was there, but they had put the price on the windsheild. Also turned out to be two of them, both 46-47-or 48's, but both were four doors. One was last tagged in 1971, it looked fairly complete, but in far worse shape than my coupe. The other one had been painted white, I mean everything, body, grill, bumpers, all the chrome, even the insides and steering wheel. Looked like it might have been started to fix up, then abandoned. Both interiors were toast, more springs showing than cloth. Lots of surface rust on both, may have even had some rust out, didn't look too close with nobody being there, and after seeing the price, I really wasn't interested.

$2900. Each! I wouldn't give half of that for the pair! They looked to have been sitting in the same spot for a few years, at those prices, they will sit a few more. Some people think what they have is gold I reckon. Even a coupe in that condition probably wouldn't bring that around here, and a four door surely won't. Maybe I can buy the one in a few years when it rusts down some more......but not at that price.....:(

Bam, I'd say that's a good indication as to what your coupe is worth

You know, the wife and I were talking about that on the way home. My car was in probably 100% better condition than those two, so I'm thinking I got a deal....even the wife is tending to agree with me on that now.:D She didn't think it was a good deal at the time, now, she's coming around to my way of thinking.

I sold 3 47 Lincolns in 2010. 2 stock complete cars but not running a 4 door Sedan for $3000 and club Coupe for $4500. Also a 47 Continental convertible all there but in parts needing a complete restoration for $6000. All 3 were rust free NM cars.

You just made my point dmw. Rust free they would be worth it. I'm into my 47 for about $4500, and it came with a running 350/350 combo. The guy was asking $7000 for mine, I traded my Maverick straight up even with him, I had about $4500 in it, maybe less. Mine isn't rust free, but nearly, and way less than the two I looked at today.

Connies bring the big prices, most overlook the post war Zephyr. Lots of Zephyrs have bit the dust as parts cars for Connies.

Bam good on you for being a wise man.

While I don't fault folks for trying, I can't help but smirk when I see stuff like this. There's a basic rule of selling ANYTHING fair market value. Stuff is only 'worth" what you can actually sell it for, NOT what one dreams it's worth.

A glass of water won't sell for much in town on a nice spring day. Stranded in the desert, one will pay any price for a sip. ;)

Some of us are all over this stuff all the time. Almost to the point that the only stuff worth talking about is the stuff that comes home. For every one that you can get bought right, there are 4-5 over priced. Especially in today's soft market. I have no problem with what other people think their stuff is worth to themselves.
