z question.

i am using 2x4x3/16 for my frame rails and am laying everything out and cutting out the pieces this weekend. my question is, when i step the front rails at the firewall how much overlap do i want in the rails when i stack them? i was thinking 6" but i want to make sure before i start cutting.

I am thinking you already have good welding skills if you are building your own frame, 6" and some fish plates should be fine.

thanks sawzall, thats what i thought and i was planning on the fish plates. just need a second opinion sometimes.

Fish plate it and drill some holes in the fish plate so you can plug weld it.
