Go to page 8 in this section and find the thread titled "Frankensteiner's Show". There's an orange International Panel, not a gasser, but the best I could do.

how old does a car need to be to qualify as a gasser?

Nice Monza Tom.

The gas classes were pretty much on their way out in the early 70's as far as NHRA was concerned. Although there were no rules that specified latest body style, the newest gasser I ever remember seeing was a 1973 Opel I believe. Since the gas classes went away during that time period, mostly older body styles are now associated with gassers. You might check with Goodguys or some of the other nostalgia associations that are currenty having gasser type events as to their model year cut off.

Originally, gas class cars were dictated by a specific set of rules. The gas class rules mandated that that the cars had to have all the sheetmetal in place, including hoods and fenders. They were also limited to 10 percent engine set back. The classes were further broken down by cubic inch to weight.

If you go to the below website and click on the history tab on the left, it will break down the rules and the evolution of them over the years. If you like gassers, be prepared to spend some time there. Great site.
