man it been awhile since I've been able to post any updates. finally got front end resolved, finished welding frame, got radiator temporally in, and got motor setup. also channeled body 4 inches and got 4 inch chop marked out. planning on cab mounts next, stretch hood 10 inches and build 42 inch bed.

With the engine set-back and the cab at the rear, that truck should be pretty balanced and should handle danged well. I'll be watching this! :)

Hi stovebolt.
I like your grille; is it a '41 big truck grille? Also, I'm glad you chose a 307 Olds, as I think I have one in an '85 Cadillac that a lady gave me. Cadillac couldn't keep a motor living for a while after they got rid of the 500, so they borrowed the Olds 307 and got in trouble for it I guess. Anyhow, I found a pair of tappet covers that have Cadillac scrolled into them at a swapmeet and I'm going to blend them onto my 307 and have a hotrod motor to die for.
Keep on tinkering.

With your long front end a short bed would balance it out. Cut the bed so you have the same amount on either side of the rear tire.

I am in the middle of chopping my '47

weld on....[;) chopping time!
