Default Subaru 360 Van Resto Mod

I picked up this micro van a few years back. Finally getting around to it. I am swapping in a VW suspension for readily available parts and disc brakes. Most likely running a sport bike engine. For anyone that is unfamiliar with these vans it is tiny. It will fit in the bed of an f150 at 4 ft wide and 9 ft long. Stands 4' 2" tall with the top chop

This is a poorly manipulated photo to show what I expect it to look like

Running this chain drive converted VW diff

Narrowed a VW front beam 11 inches and installed height adjusters

Cut up the beam and grafted it into the stock Subaru frame. Used the stock VW steering box and drivers side tie rod. Just have to shorted and rethread the passenger side tie rod

Used some aftermarket irs pivot mounts and some homemade plates to connect the stock VW trailing arms. No longer using the torsion housing due to narrow Subaru track and instead used some 1st gen Miata front coilovers

I have moved the wheels out to the corners for variety of reasons and am relocating the rear wheel arches and the front wheel wells. Here is the body going on for the first time

This is the engine compartment. Most likely going with Hayabusa engine (175hp). The van should weigh in around 1350 lbs when done.

Video posted on my youtube page. Here is a shortcut to the projects page.

The thing about a '39 Ford pick-up is that that ugly grille kinda' grows on ya' after a while.

Not taking anything too seriously.

Don't give up, it's far too much fun once you can drive it.
