Seems like you would loose a lot of the exaust pressure with it back there but you may not need a cooler.
 
From what the experts on jap forums say a shorter exhaust would give less lag. Less back pressure means the turbo can spin up quicker. also the turbo dose do quite alot of silencing ,i like it good solution if you have limited space .
 
It is the heat loss that kills the rear mount turbos. Turbos work on "Load" not just air flow. They have to have heat as part of the equation. On top of that you have to pressurize all the cold side piping up to the engine. They do work but just not as efficiant as on right up by the motor.
