Yep, 3 inches difference in the wheelbase... that is what is starting the whole deal in the first place... since I gotta cut the spring mounts and move the axle forward... might as well bring the suspension into this century.
My truck project: 66 F100 body going on a 78 F150 frame... While I got the body off the 78, I plan on doing suspension mods...
Your thoughs on this would be appreciated...
The plan: remove the rear leaf springs move the spring mount forward and use 2-1/4 square tube from the newly mounted...

What shielding gas you use makes a differnce also...
Argon makes for a cooler weld... many places suggest a mix for all around, the mix usually contains helium, the helium will burn hotter... C02 is somewhere in between...
One thing to add... not once did I hear DO IT OUTSIDE IN A WELL VENTILATED AREA!!! DO NOT SMOKE NEAR IT! the bubbles... that is hydrogen... VERY EXPLOSIVE!

The spool gun is the way to go if you don't want to go TIG... trying to stuff soft aluminum wire through a standard MIG even with the teflon liner is hard to do, they end up stickin all the time...
