    My mojo is back.

Old member here, lost the path for a while due to divorce and all that, sat around for a year doing nothing but mope. Anyway, back into it now, have a lovely girlfriend and an interesting rod project now. It is one of the earliest ‘glass Jago t buckets to be built in the UK and was first on...

    TH350 'drags' in traffic

I had my 350 rebuilt because it was trashed basically. It took a while to go into gear, and seemed to judder or stumble a lot when driving. I noticed recently that when warmed up it seems to be dragging internally when standing still in gear or creeping along. It feels almost like something is...

Those poxy little Chevy valve seals..

I just pulled the heads apart on a 283 I've got, just to have a quick check of the bores, springs and lap the valves. My buddy suggested machining the guides to take modern oil seals, but I just want to throw this together and see if it runs okay, then do a full overhaul some day in the future...

    Borg Warner T10 info

Buddy is selling me this tranny, supposed to be a heavy duty unit, anybody have any advice, what to look for, what the weaknesses are. It has a cast iron housing, that apparently is the tougher version?? Being in the third world any spares or parts have to be shipped 10,000 miles if...

    Healey 3000 hop up

Several years ago I bought a glass fibre Healey 3000, because it looked really cool. It had no drive train, so my plan was to just drop a 350/350 combo in and have a nice day.... I let the car sit for a year or two while I was building my RPU, and finally got around to jacking it up and...

    Filter in TH350 cooler line

Just having a little thinking session, but would there be any benefit in fitting an inline filter in one of the lines to the cooler, just to see what colour fluid is, whether there is any junk in it etc? My trans is at the re-builders right now, seems to have some worn out clutches, fluid was...

Undersize water pump pulley for SBC?

Having messed about forever with this motor getting too hot on real hot days in heavy traffic, I finally bit the bullet and ordered up an aluminum radiator from Summit. And a big electric fan. It is not until now, when I have the front end all torn down, that I'm looking at my water pump pulley...

    Damn, axle seal leaking

I fitted new bearings to my 9" when I modified it to fit my hot rod. I just noticed yesterday oil is leaking from one end. Been happening for a while as there is oil inside the wheel and all over the disc brake and caliper. Today I pulled the half shaft, hoping it was leaking around the outside...

90 degree adaptor for TH350 speedo cable?

For some reason I built my frame so the speedo cable will bump right into it when fitted, so I'm wondering if anybody makes an adapter that will screw fit on and turn it a sharp 90 degrees as it leaves the tranny? I tried Google but nothing of use comes up.

Low rpm misfire on #8 cyl, SBC

I have a lightly tuned 350, mild cam, 11:1 CR, HEI dizzy. Intake is some sort of early Chevy alloy stocker, with Speedway T bucket headers. It used to run smooth, but had a lifter clicking loudly occasionally, #5 intake valve. Couple of weeks ago I pulled the intake and stripped and cleaned the...

    'Heat soak' in Chevy starters.

I've heard about this a bit over the years, and it has always puzzled me a bit. I think I may have it on my current rod, but haven't investigated yet. Sometimes the starter just gets reeaal slow, even though everything looks good, good voltage, good charging etc. The 'Heat soak' thing is...

    5/8" DD steering joints?

Does anybody make DD steering joints in 5/8"? I Googled, but found nothing. [S I want to use matching 5/8" solid steering column, to my Corvair box, but need the steering column to slide though a bushing, so short of getting a spline machined on it I can only see a DD as the way to go.

    My Model A RPU project

The latest project, a 'glass body we took from England to the Philippines with us: The body was soon rent asunder for shipping: After we arrived in the PI and I finally found a place to work, I glassed a plywood floor into the body, and re-attached the rear half to the front. My old...

New guy from across the waters

Hi all, I'm Paul, from England, but currently living in the Philippines. I've been into hot rods most all of my life, and my project of the moment is an RPU. It'll never be a rusty old rat rod though, cos it is made of fibreglass. :o Steel car bodies are few and far between out here. Anyway...
