SALUDA – The sight of Macy Causey leading almost five laps for the first time in a full-sized stock car delighted many on hand May 4 at Virginia Motor Speedway. Fans were on their feet and the crews of opposing Sportsman Division teams were fist-pumping and cheering her.

It was a sign of the respect Causey, a 12-year-old girl from Seaford, has earned with her continual improvement on the half-mile dirt track near Saluda. But there was some skepticism.

Well, if that don't make a guy just feel all warm and fuzzy!!! Awesome kid. We often hold them back from stuff they could do a lot sooner in life.

Back in the day I raced dirt bikes. There was a kool scrambles track we loved in Baytown, Tx. The guy who owned the track had a teen son & daughter. His daughter was an animal & usually won all her races. She would be in turns with people & kick their bikes over with her foot & especially loved crashing out her brother. Fortunately I raced a different class than she ran!
