If your able to safely start it, do a compression test and a leak down test. I started mine while it was sitting on the floor, supported by the engine hoist. Once I had it in the frame, I did a compression test and found all to be within spec cept 1. Dropped in a few drops of ATF and tested again, found the 1 bad one to be within spec now. Usually means a bad ring but it'll run for a while.

For $75, you can't go wrong.

rear end help

i need 5ft of clearence from the inner drums wat kind of rear end do i look for im running a 318 727 thanks

I wouldn’t be too concerned with how to match it up with the trans yoke, you can have a drive shaft modified very easily with whatever yoke you’ll need to fit the rear.
On the 5’, we were looking for 58” and most of the 9” Ford rear ends we found were 60”. (That was backing plate to backing plate) The one we got was from a 78’ Bronco, not sure what all the 60” ones were from, but there was a lot more of them, so you should be able to find one pretty easy.

very cool project!! I am glad you are leaving it a four door. Will look awesome.

I see a Radio Flyer peaking in that picture, its riding at stock height!!! haha just kidding. If you get bored or stuck on something, build that wagon to take your kids in at car shows. Good work. Look forward to progress.
