Tough day. Our twelve year old lab passed away today. Doing a little mental engineering as Torchie says, but not a lot of anything else.

Yeah, I'm going to miss that old dog. Here is a picture. She wasn't as heavy a drinker as the picture makes her out to be. The red eyes are from the camera.

Here is the latest progress. I needed to build a mount system for my grill. I resorted to exhaust tubing again. Hole sawed a access port in the side. Made a base out of 16 ga cold rolled and welded it all together. Now with the body mounts I bought I can Weld the big silver washer to the bottom end of the exhaust pipe, and use the port to gain access to install the inner rubber isolator and bolt. I will weld up a couple brackets on the front cross member to bolt the grill to. In the pictures you are looking at the bottom inside of the grill.

Im happy with the result. should be plenty strong for the lousy roads we have up here. The freeze thaw cycles this year have destroyed city streets for the next couple years or more.

Sorry for the loss of your Lab buddy. Since I like dogs better than people I know how it hurts.

I'm enjoying following your build.

Thanks guys. We still have one dog. He is really missing his buddy. So are we. As long as we are busy, it's good. But you gotta stop once in a while.

Back to work.

I got some work done. Mounted the grill. bought some head light buckets for 40$. Here are some shots of the grill mounts. they both turned out real nice until one of them lined up perfectly with the top of my panhard bar mount. Then had to rim it off and weld it there.

The headlights are back behind the grill and I think they will need to move ahead to avoid weird shadows. Any thoughts?

I tried to get a shot of the grill mount in there but the light is not good.

Where you have them in the first shot

I don't think will cast any shadows at all.....jmho

I agree with Sarge. I don't believe you will have a problem.
And as he said, just hook a light up a battery and see.
Coming along great.
Torchie.

I believe your thinking on the right line. Some of our experiance when mounting extra lights on the farm tractors turn out with some areas with less than desirable light. Usually take them out in the night & make the adjustments or new brackets. My .02 after taxes.00

I think it looks better with the lights back right over the mount. Prolly cuz I'm feeling to lazy to build a extended mount. If I needed I could use a hole saw or a knock out cutter in my lower valence an add some driving lights. That would give me a excuse to buy some used knock out cutters.[S
