1951 Chevy 3 window pickup

Good morning my name is Rick, I am just starting to rebuild a 51 Chevy pickup. Will I have to remove the existing steering box when installing a new 350 V-8? Will a rear end measuring 58 1/2 outside to outside work on that truck? The existing rear end was 62 inches. Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

That axle might be made to fit, but will you be able to get wheels on it? If it's a 9", there are probably a few people that would gladly trade you for a wider one.

Welcome. Ive got a 50 chevy. The rear i used is out of a early 90s ford t bird. It fit perfect with my wide reae tires. Got any pics?
