1954 ford rearend

I have a 54 ford coupe with the original rearend with a 351 windsor C-4. It is way too low geared for cruising and I have had a hard time finding gears for it. Anybody have any suggestions???

Swap out a 9 inch. Tougher, more reliable and easy to find parts for no matter where you are.

Either an 8 or 9 incher would be better than what you have, and most of them come stock with highway friendly gears. Something in the 2.79 to 3.0 range would probably be about right.

Look at Mavericks, Mustangs, Granada's etc from the mid 70's.

Ford 8.8s are about the cheapest, many of them are limited slip and almost as tough as a 9 inch. Plus the come in a lot of widths.
