2x4 frame

Me and my boy are building a 41 Chevy P/U. My question is what width are most everybody making there frame in the front for the motor and steering clearence. Im doing a 8" Z in the front SB Chevy with an inside frame dimension of about 27" at the narrowest point?

My 39 frame is 24 ID but I am running a Y block. It worked well for the front spring mount and steering.

Mine is 26 1/2" outside and tapers back to 30 1/2" outside. It looks straight here but it isn't.

The average truck frame is 34inches wide. That is what i made mine at, then tapered it down in the front to about 20inches.

Mine is 32" under the cab then tapers to 21" at the front.

Thanks all, i'll just stick with my plan and make it work especially since i cut all the metal last night. My plan is 34 at the back of the cab, 30 at the firewall tappered to 25 in the front.
