Been piecing this together for a while, but now a actually have something to look at.

I got my hands on the prototype for the speedway "rat rod" frame, about a year before it ever came out in the catalog.

It's an LRS chassis from Mt. Vernon, MO. The fab work is really nice. I stole it off ebay for cheap!

dropped 32 crossmember, pinched rails, huge swept Z'd front rails, large underslung rear perch, K member with ladder bar mounts

shock mounts, engine mounts, spring over front suspension design, front model A frame horns, Vega steering box mount

the koolest thing about my LRS chassis is the rear underslung frame.

the rails run under the axle, instead of a huge kickup.

They have their own hangers and stuff for this, but to save some dough I used other components and made custom hangers from Ron Pope.

I used a $100 posies 35 Ford front spring, instead of the really big 30's posies rear spring that's like $300

I had some 57" rear ladders fabbed my Ron Pope at EZTbucket, to keep the Ford 9inch in check.

also the rear spring hangers, and front hairpins came from Ron Pope

all really stout stuff.

back to the front end,

I'm running a Suberbell 4 inch drop axle, posies reverse eye spring, speedwaycheap shocks, vega steering box, 53 F-100 drum brakes, with 60's self adjusting internals
and Ron Pope 2 piece short 23" Hairpins.

spring over for shorter wheelbase, and to avoid suicide front end.

vega cross steering to retain ackerman angles

all hardware is speedway components

snagged a 46 Chevy Cab.

beat , but not a total POS.

it's narrow cowl will look great on the narrow front rails of that z'd Model A chassis.

After digging a few pounds of squirrel debris, spider ****, and crap outta the cab, I powerwashed it out.

I lost another 2 pounds of rust and crud from the body shell.

It's still wet in the pics, it seems.

This is the pattern you use to chop your top, and lower your rear window at the same time.

4 outta the top, 2 outta the window, 2 under the window.

suicide doors done.

used a no-name ebay kit. it came with latches, strikers, latch housings, a bunch of
plates, shims and stuff. the hinges have GM bushings in them, and a ball/spring type
adjustable door check. hella good deal for $150!

the passenger door's done, now to the driver's door

then I have to fit the door cards, and engineer some type of handle and lock system.

good thing we've got some junk doors in the scrap bin!
