Wow, that cab is really down there! Nice work! I'm really anxious to see this one finished. I'm also really amazed that you still have the headroom that you do at 6'2". Do you have any seat mounts (brackets) or are your seats mounted directly to the floor?

Thunder1

The rear window is in and ready to finish welding it. I also picked up the 460 ford engine for it. Will be taking it apart to get cleaned and inspected. Also some minor work done to it at the shop. Will be changing it from EFI to carbs. Will post pics later on today.

As far as my seats? Well it is something i have rarely seen done but you will have to wait to see it. They will be about 4" from the floor to the top of the seat. I also have a unique idea for the shifter that i have to figure out. As well as the gas tank (wifes idea).

still need to finish up the welding on the rear indow but was busy this weekend. I need to get some sheet metal to fill the gaps from the chop. Easy to get from a place in town.

I also picked up my 460 ford Big Block saturday. had no intension on taking it apsrt as far as i did. I was only gonna take the valve covers on to see it anything seemed wrong. One thing let to another and with the help on my wife and some freinds of ours... ...well you see the pics. Block seems good so far. gonna get i cleaned and bored out and ready to build back up. like to get about 400 hp out of it at least.

Worked on the chop top a little. Filled in the gaps made on either side of the rear window when i split the roof. I also started on the door frame, though it still needs finishing and some tweaking to do it gives an idea of the hieght of the side windows. Needless to say i can't get fast food through the window now. My wife and friend (girlfeind as my wife calls her) are pushing me to get it done and moving by may at the latest to take them for a ride this summer.

Need to pull out the rearend to see if it is usable for this ride. Not sure if it is the stock readr end or not. Never gave it a good lookover when i stored it. Plus i need to figure out the rear setup for it. four link probably but things change all the time with this one.

I also need to finish insulating the garage. This will be an all winter project and need to keep warm as much as posable. I am gonna install more lighting as well for the middle and front parts of the garage.

I got the metal to fill in the roof and started on it. the middle is almost done. just need to fill in the gap that you see in the front.

I plan on building a brace that will go down the center of the truck on the inside of the roof. this will help hold the curve of the roof the way it should be.

Work on it is a bit slow due to the cold and trying to work on it on the warmer days. (above 45 deg F)

Note: made a couple copper spoons for welding. Have to say the best thing i did.

Ya man I hear ya its freezing up here. I havent done anything on mine except buy parts. It looks like the truck is coming along nicely though.

The last couple days have been nice enough to work on the ride so i finished up the roof and now doing the final welding and and getting it ready to start the body work. It is rough at the moment for i only have grinding discs. will do the final sanding after it is all done. Started with the drivers side door as well as the radio antenna mount holes. The passenger side had a hole in it for the heater.

I finally bought my front disc brakes and installed them. I had to get a bolt on steering arm as well and when i put it all together figured out that some metal needed to be trimmed off of the arm itself to allow free movement. After all said and done it works perfectly and has about an 1/8 inch clearance of the caliper itself.

I also had to cut the cab corner out do to the jam had been cut out by someone a while back. I got a new corner and went ahead and filled in the gas filler hole while i was working it.

The roof is completely welded up though it does need a little work and get the lines right.

I now have to get a set of 5 X 4.5 steel wheels and get the power coated to get the front end off of stands. next will be the back end. four link and transverse spring is rout i am thinking about.

haven't done much to the motor yet. Except take it apart. I need to strip the heads down to get them cleaned and get the spark plugs that where broken of in it by the previous owner. 3 of the 8 plugs are broken. Plan on dropping it off in a couple weeks if all goes right. realy trying to get the F1 in rolling form first though, so the motor might take a back seat to that for now. I might be deployed in a couple months for 4-5 months to the desert so I am trying my hardest to finish what i can. At that time i can save up for the stoker kit i want to get. (521)

I was messing around with the front axle angle and trying to get it correct but there was a problem on where i wanted my hairpins to mount to. After trimming the top rod on the hair pin it seemed to work alot better. It also made them alot more adjustable as the pictures can show. I also figured out how to connect the hairpin to the frame. With a small part of the tie rod that i will put in the frame after drilling the 7/8 inch hole that will hold it on place.

Finished the front end... as far as the hairpin mounting goes. I slipped a short piece of a tie rod into a 7/8" hole drilled into the frame. I will eventualy be welded into place. the measurement from the center of the mount to the opposite corner of the end of the beam is right on the dot. keeping it all square.

While sitting inside the truck messing around i figured i would make a brace for the roof of the cab. for adding strength to the roof and being able to put the interior light in place. with the center piece in place i went and made a drivers side plate and didn't quit like the squareness to it. With the truck being round i figured i would try my hand at some metal shaping. after trimming out a piece of wood to size and routering the edge with 1/2" quarder round bit. Clamping the peice of metal that was trimmed 3/4" past the edge to the wood i then practiced i little anger managment and beat the edge to down to match the curve. lastly trimmed to edge even so it fits. I have not welded it yet for i still need to make the other side...

I have started on the rear suspension set up. It will be a four link with a single leaf spring. The rear end i have will be for mock up until i get back from my four month trip to the desert... I will get a ford 9" or dana 60 for the real set up.
