Well.... here goes nuthin'! I came across a rust bucket that has been farm use for at least 10 years and probably closer to 20 years! it is a bit rough, has a long bed and is a 4x4. The good news is I found a 283 under the hood! So, $300.00 later, I finally have a rat rod project! After getting it home, I commenced to pressure washing, vacuuming and then pulled out the cutting torch. I already have a '79 Chevy shortbed rolling chassis lined up that has already been sandblasted, painted and has 3 1/2" dropped spindles on its disc brake front end! My goal is to get the engine, cab and front clip on the new frame as soon as possible and be streetable so I do side work to further fund the project! The guys on the Chevy truck site seem to be ready for the long bed frame and 4x4 setup to hit the parts for sale listings...

I imagine they are  Not sure if that would be a NAPCO conversion or true GM 4X4 but either way that's a rare truck! If you go through with your late model short bed plans don't "give that stuff away" ........might be able to finance a big part of the project with it. Welcome to RRR and good luck with your build.

I love a 2wd hot rod truck but I really hate to see such a rare 4x4 get cut up. Regardless tho, do what ya want lol and jeep the pics coming!

Thanks to all for such a warm welcome! Yeah, my friends are giving me a hard time about dismantling a 4x4 but honestly, the cab and front clip are in such rough shape I doubt anyone restoring it would use whats there! I am going to roll the chassis out intact minus the 283, so someone would have a great start! Dana 44 front diff and Chevy rear. I am flat broke and havent had a personal vehicle in over a year. I learned how to do this type of work years ago and have always built other guys rods, so I decided a few more months w/o a ride and some elbow grease, I can have a little fun and maybe get a cool ride after all![;) Thanks for your support and I will post pics as I can!

a;ittle more progress...

Hey rex1927, glad my ride sparked good memories for you:D Made a little progress in the deconstruction... I cant wait to get the new frame to see how much channeling will be needed

Quality time!

Finally..... I got the cab on the ground! It kinda gives me some insight as to how this thing is gonna look, although not this low:D Once I pull the motor I will list the 4x4 chassis for sale and hopefully get some additional funding to feed the project... like my new 79 Chevy lowered chassis!
