Rod and Custom ran an article, probably early 70's, on how Pete Chapouris made the wheels for the California Kid. Actually, it showed two sets, one was Kelsey Hayes wires, that he widened, the other were steelies. He used VW hoops for the front.

My question is: what wheel centers did he use ???

Maybe someone has that issue.
Thanks very much.

i'm gonna say he had to use original centers from ford wheels-if i remember right it used ford caps & rings didn't it?--i'm not familiar with that article, but do remember my hotrod centerfold of it from the 90's--it had aluminum wheels on it then

back in the day (50s) dad took ford pick up wheels (16") and cut the rim off of them and used oldsmobile wheels with center cut out (14") to make ford pick-up 14" wheels......he said the re-caps were cheap and he could get a wider tire, too;)
