e-bay is it a hemi or a poly?

E-bay item 150361193383, is listed as a 270 inch 1955 or 1956 HEMI. The block serial number is P27-273598. The starting price is $3500, and it is all rebuilt. A 55 Dodge Hemi of 270 cubes would begin with a D553-then the serial#,{ I have one I know}, and the 56 would have a D500-then the serial#. This would be 315 cubes. A P27 would be a Plymouth POLY, or POLYSPHERE headed engine, that has had Hemi heads installed at one time in it's life. The Plymouth P27 POLY would be either 241 or 259cubes, depending on bore size only. Done properly this hemi head on a poly block is not a bad thing. The party selling the item has EXCELLENT feedback and they are probably great folks, but if you were restoring a say 55 Coronet, you would be very, very upset to find this out the hard way. When it comes to old Hemi's, get yourself a good book on the subject, and make sure you have some deep pockets before you swap out that SBC, hope that helps, torque.

Good buy for $3500 if that what it sells for. I'd love one or a Poly for my 35 Plymouth. But I see a free 318 LA/904 in my future.
